West side business fire under investigation

The Madison Fire Department was called to 4273 West Beltline Highway early this morning for reports of a fire at a local business.

According to a statement from the fire department, crews arrived on scene finding heavy fire at the front of the building. Ladder 6 and Engine 7 teamed up for fire attack, and additional crews performed a thorough search of the building. No victims were found inside.

Firefighters achieved initial knock down just five minutes after arrival on scene and no injuries were reported. The Madison Fire Department’s Fire Investigation Team remains on scene looking into the cause and origin of the fire.

Additional reporting from NBC-15 notes the fire occurred near the scene of a deadly crash around the same time, and investigators from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives were also on scene. As of around 8:30 a.m. the Madison Fire Department still had not made contact with the owner of the business, which was identified as a tattoo parlor.

Few details about the crash have been released and the fire department indicated it is working with the police department to determine if the two incidents are related.
