On Sept. 18, United Way of Dane County kicked off the 2023 Community Campaign, announcing a goal of $18.1 million for Dane County neighbors. This goal fuels nonprofits across Dane County responding to poverty, pandemic effects, and instability. United Way has raised $9.6 million and seeks additional help through year-end gifts.
While progress has been made with United Way’s partners in the areas of education, income, and health, community needs continue to outweigh the resources available. In fact:
- 10.8% of the population lives in poverty;
- Only 42.9% of third grade students are reading at grade level;
- Food and rent assistance calls are up 80% over this time last year; and
- Rent prices in the Madison area are increasing faster than any other of the nation’s top 100 cities.
Tax-deductible, year-end gifts can be contributed before midnight on Dec. 31. Click here to learn more and make a donation today.
