Dave Neill
Regional PublisherA veteran media executive, Dave Neill joined In Business Madison in 2024 as publisher, overseeing the publication's business operations and strategic direction. Previously, he founded and led DNC Media LLC, a consulting and media management firm based in Spring Hill, Tennessee. Prior to that, he served as regional president and publisher at daily newspapers including the Greenville News, the Asheville Citizen Times, and the Naples Daily News.

Katie Dean
Editor in ChiefEducation: Grinnell College, B.A. in History and French.
An award-winning journalist and Madison native, Katie Dean joined In Business
Madison in 2024 as editor-in-chief, overseeing the publication’s editorial coverage.
Previously, she worked at The Capital Times for 16 years in a variety of reporting
and editing roles, including executive editor. Prior to that, she lived in San
Francisco for 10 years, writing about education, technology, and the
entertainment industry for Wired.com.

Joe Vanden Plas
Senior WriterEducation: UW–Stevens Point.
As the senior writer of In Business Madison, Joe researches and writes content
for the monthly print magazine, the daily e-newsletters, and networking events.
With 40 years of experience in journalism, including 25 in the Capital Region,
the 1983 UW–Stevens Point graduate has covered government, business,
athletics, and culture. Outside the office, the Green Bay native enjoys power
walks with wife Patty, classic movies, and sporting events.

Brittney Kenaston

As a staff journalist with In Business Madison, Brittney reports what’s new in
the business scene at the local, state, and national levels. A former high school
educator, she has a passion for public speaking and community connection.
Outside of the office, Brittney enjoys writing fiction, hiking, painting,
and playing with her dog.

Staff JournalistLouis is a journalist with 16+ years of professional writing experience, starting
his career with newspapers in Alaska, Wisconsin and Minnesota. As a freelance
writer, he has worked for Game Informer, GamesRadar, Xbox Magazine, Good
Beer Hunting, Heavy Table and more. He enjoys traveling with his wife and two
kids, playing soccer and telling his two cats, Nori and Ellie, about how Liverpool
FC’s season is going.

She previously held a similar role at the publication two decades ago before stepping away to raise her daughter, and has since built a career around strong partnerships and profitable growth.

Nick Flores-Sanchez is a Media Account Executive with In Business Madison, where he works with local businesses and organizations to build advertising strategies across print, digital, sponsored content and events. Before joining the publication, he served as membership development manager at the Greater Madison Chamber of Commerce and worked in corporate partnerships with the Madison Mallards and Madison Night Mares. A graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Business, Nick enjoys building relationships, supporting the local business community and helping clients share their stories.

Jess Carter is the lead designer for In Business Madison, where she
brings the publication’s visuals to life, ensuring a strong brand
presence and consistency across media platforms. Before that, she
worked in both in-house and agency settings across multiple
industries, honing her skills in creative problem-solving and project
management.

Kim Bauer
Graphic DesignerEducation: Winona State University, B.A. in Mass Communications, PR. Madison College, certificates in Graphic Design and Web Design.
Kim joined In Business Madison in 2024, designing advertising, editorial,
collateral for events and maintaining the website. Kim worked as a marketing specialist at RenewAire, designing online and print materials and planning events. She spent 20 years at Capital Newspapers, doing advertising design, pagination and prepress.

Connie Pieper
Office ManagerAs office manager for In Business Madison, Connie is a jack of all trades who wears many hats. Her role spans customer service, database updates, billing and accounts receivable, magazine circulation, and keeping the office organized. Off the clock, she has run her own interior design business for over 25 years. She enjoys wildlife, gardening, and dining out with friends—and loves dog sitting any chance she gets.
