A new plan for the 820-acre East Towne Mall area, the Greater East Towne Area Plan, will include much more housing, denser retail, high-rise office buildings, new streets, and the potential to replace some or all of the mall, according to a Wisconsin State Journal report. Draft concepts from planners show buildings up to 12 stories at the center and a mix of heights and uses. The area plan will guide future land use, housing, economic development, parks and open space, and transportation.
