Madison College tries to get answers about stalled hotel project
Madison College is working with a hotel developer renting its downtown campus site hoping to get an understanding of when the project may start again, according to a Wisconsin State Journal report. Construction of a 200-room hotel at 211 N. Carroll St. stopped in the spring of 2020. Madison College said it’s working with Drury Southwest, the developer, which did not pay its $700,000 yearly payment by July 1 as scheduled. It is unclear when work will resume or if the Missouri-based hotel company will pull out of the project. MATC owns the 211 N. Carroll St. site, one block from the Capitol Square.
