JustDane receives $200K TruStage Foundation grant
JustDane was recently awarded a grant from the TruStage Foundation. The $200,000 grant will be divided between JustDane’s Healing House and Reentry Services.
Since opening its doors four years ago, nearly 250 guests have been served by Healing House. The eight-bed facility offers 24/7 recuperative care by medically-trained staff and volunteers for up to 28 days and provides families experiencing homelessness a safe place to prepare for or recover from a major medical procedure or hospitalization. Half of the funding from the grant will be used to increase behavioral health support for guests and to purchase new beds, couches, and other heavily-used equipment.
The other half of the funding will be allocated to program participants across JustDane initiatives (including reentry, Just Bakery, Healing House, and Just Connections) who need rental assistance but find themselves ineligible for HUD funded rapid rehousing supports, whether because of conviction history, because they do not meet the HUD definition of homelessness, or because their housing is transitional and not permanent.
