Cave of the Mounds reveals new solar panels

Cave of the Mounds has unveiled two newly installed solar panels, according to NBC15. The destination draws nearly 100,000 visitors per year and accrues thousands of dollars in electricity costs with its extensive lighting system and other amenities.

The two 28-kilowatt solar panels will reduce the Cave of the Mounds carbon footprint by over 50%. The installation will eventually be part of an interactive experience for visitors, providing education about the science behind the site.

The solar panels should be up and running any day, with only a few inspections left.
