The University of Wisconsin-Stout received nearly $2 million in federal grant money for projects to promote civil discourse, AI and non-degree training programs, the Wisconsin State Journal reports.

The funding will be used to launch six new programs under UW-Stout FUSE (Fast Upskilling for Skills and Employment) to instruct students in eight- to 15-week courses.

The goal is to reach a 70% job placement rate within six months, the newspaper reports.

The new workforce programs are expected to launch in January 2027.
