The WEA Member Benefits Foundation will expand its statewide school-based mental health initiative after receiving an increased commitment of $600,000 from the Roots & Wings Foundation. The funding will help grow access to school-based mental health services for K-12 students statewide.
“We are excited about the impact this additional grant will have on our capacity to provide mental health funding for more Wisconsin school districts,” Steve Goldberg, executive director of the WEA Member Benefits Foundation, said in a statement. “This continued support from Roots & Wings and other funders is a big factor in our ability to extend mental health funding to additional school districts and reach more students statewide.”
The initiative strengthens school-based mental health programs that connect students with counseling and other behavioral health services. The foundation currently provides mental health funding to 21 Wisconsin school districts, serving approximately 148,000 of the state’s 785,000 K-12 students.
