Madison nonprofit Latinos Organizing for Understanding and Development (LOUD) will host the Wisconsin Conference of Latino Arts and Culture at Centro Hispano of Dane County on May 2-3, according to Madison365. LOUD is a statewide initiative that promotes collaboration between Latinx arts and service organizations, artists, and their communities.

The organization hosted the first annual Wisconsin Conference of Latino Arts and Culture virtually in 2021. The event will “bring together Latino artists and arts organizations to explore Latino music, film, exhibits, and writing,” the nonprofit said.

Featured artists and speakers will include Greg Zelek, principal organist of the Madison Symphony Orchestra; Colombian musician Angela Puerta; Juan Garcia Oyervides, director of Chicana/o and Latinx Studies at UW-Oshkosh; Dr. Armando Ibarra, professor in the School for Workers at UW-Madison; and Karen Mendenez Coller, the executive director of Centro Hispano.

There will also be a gallery show including emerging Latino artists as part of the 11th Annual Latino Art Fair at east side Madison’s Common Wealth Gallery. Several local musicians will perform as well.
