Alliance for Automotive Innovation released its state-by-state analysis of the U.S. electric vehicle (EV) market for Q2 2024. The Get Connected Electric Vehicle Report summarizes EV sales, purchasing trends, and charging infrastructure across the country.

Nationally, EVs represented 9.96% of new light-duty vehicle sales in Q2 2024 — up from 9.34% in Q1 2024 and 9.05% in Q2 2023. Currently, 117 EV cars, utility vehicles, pickup trucks, and van models are available for sale.

In Wisconsin, EVs represented 4.45% of new light-duty vehicle sales in Q2 2024 — up from 4.2% in Q1 2024 and up from 3.9% in Q2 2023. Overall, 2,521 EVs sold in Wisconsin. The state ranks 36th in EV market share.

Across the U.S. in Q2 2024, there were 5.1 million EVs on the road and a total of 177,330 publicly available charging outlets — a ratio of 29 EVs to every public port. In Wisconsin, there were 38,752 EVs on the road and 1,503 publicly available charging outlets — a ratio of 26 EVs for every public port. Wisconsin ranks 33rd in the ratio of EVs to public chargers.
