Youth Arts Center, apartments eyed

Stone House Development is proposing an 11-story, mixed-use building on East Washington Avenue to round out its Lyric project in the 1000 block of East Washington and would include a multimillion-dollar Youth Arts Center on a portion of the site.

According to an article in the Wisconsin State Journal, the developer has proposed a four-story youth center, which would be owned by the Youth Arts Consortium, to serve children from kindergarten through high school, and provide opportunities for them to engage in music, theater, dance, and the visual arts. Office space, retail, and 120 market-rate apartments would fill out the building. If approved, ground could break in March.

The Madison Youth Arts Consortium is a partnership between Children’s Theater of Madison and Madison Youth Choirs.
