WYC to pay sick leave regardless of programs

Wisconsin Youth Company (WYC) announced it will expand its emergency paid sick leave through June 2022 to cover employees even as programs close due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The paid leave offered by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Families First Coronavirus Response Act expired March 31, 2021, but WYC, citing the omicron variant and the rise of COVID-19 cases, has extended the program. Under this leave, full- and part-time employees can take a paid leave of absence in addition to other paid leave provided by the organization. WYC stated it has received federal relief dollars that allow it to continue to pay staff when programs close. WYC provides out-of-school-time programming throughout Dane and Waukesha counties.
