Wollersheim distillery breaks ground

Wollersheim Winery has broken ground on a $4 million, 25,000-square-foot distillery near Prairie du Sac that will greatly expand the winery’s line of spirits. The new facility, attached to its existing fermentation buildings, will include 20 5,800-gallon fermentation tanks, 400 oak barrels, and two stills. Wollersheim has been producing its own brandy since last year, but new products could include colorless fruit brandies, whiskey, absinthe, and gin. The distillery should be completed by next summer.
