Wisconsin farmers part of Syngenta suit

Wisconsin corn growers have filed a class-action lawsuit against Syngenta AG, which manufactures genetically modified corn seed. The Wisconsin suit coincides with similar lawsuits filed in Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, and Nebraska that claim Syngenta affirmatively misrepresented China’s interest in the modified corn product before the seed was sold to the farmers.

In fact, according to a release, China rejected all U.S.-produced corn shipments containing Syngenta’s modified corn seed, which caused corn prices to tank and resulted in “significant financial losses” for Wisconsin and U.S. corn growers.
