Since its founding, Architectural Design Consultants Inc. has been committed to building meaningful relationships — both internally and externally. That longstanding commitment was honored recently when the company was named by Zweig Group as a 2022 Best Firm to Work For.

“We are a service firm, and at the heart of every service firm is its people,” says President and CFO Jason Sorci (14 years with ADCI). “Our cultural focus accomplishes a higher level of team satisfaction. In turn, this improves the level of service and ultimately client satisfaction.”

ADCI celebrates diverse talent, building teams that complement its clients and their projects to create intentional spaces and extraordinary experiences. Over the years, the firm has left an indelible mark on its hometown, as well as becoming a sought-after expert in hospitality and family resort design on a national level.

The firm’s varied portfolio includes community projects, convention centers, professional offices, municipal facilities, multifamily and senior housing, and retail, dining, and entertainment venues. The innovation and technical skill showcased in that shared body of work is a point of personal pride for staff members such as Senior Architect Josh Johnson (nine years with ADCI). “ADCI has provided me with the tools, the support, and the opportunity to do the most interesting and exciting work of my career,” Johnson says. “I am surrounded by a group of kind and knowledgeable professionals who work very well together.”

This year, ADCI is proud to be recognized by Zweig Group as the 12th Best Firm to Work For in the nation in its category — and the only firm headquartered in Wisconsin to be awarded a place on the list. Placement is based on the largest employee survey in the architecture, engineering, and construction industry, one that gathers more than 2 million data points and ranks top AEC firms in the U.S. and Canada based on employee benefits, workplace practices, retention rates, and more.

ADCI’s efforts to foster a positive office culture have led to the company being nominated and voted by its own employees as a workplace that promotes professional growth, work-life balance, collaboration, and personal fulfillment.

Senior Designer Amanda Carmichael (eight years with ADCI) underlined the success of those efforts, saying, “There are so many great things about working at ADCI — from the atmosphere to the project variety, the collaborative environment, and everything in between. As a mom of three school-aged boys, I’m grateful for the value this company places on family and work-life balance. It’s the compassion for their employees that really sets ADCI apart.”

ADCI understands what it takes to create an environment that inspires a higher level of work satisfaction and will continue to make strides forward with those efforts.

In an announcement to employees, VP of Business Operations Justin Nagel (nine years with ADCI) wrote, “This award is a testament to the effective combination of strong servant leadership and the incredible team of people we have in place at ADCI. This group is poised to accomplish many impactful things going forward.”
