Who are Madison’s most influential?

Last July, we unveiled our inaugural list of the “25 Most Influential People in Greater Madison.” This feature was a smashing success, and it generated a ton of feedback.

We received many nominations from the public to supplement the list of names our editorial staff came up with. With only 25 spots available, we were forced to leave many deserving influential people off our final list — and I know we will face the same predicament this year.    

IB’s editorial staff has been hard at work this past year keeping a list of nominees for our 2015 feature, which will be published in our July 2015 issue, but we are once again giving our readers the opportunity to nominate people for this year’s feature. You need to act soon, though, as the April 17 nomination deadline is fast approaching.  

Please keep in mind that this is not a lifetime achievement award. While many local community leaders have made a huge impact on our area for several decades — and we certainly don’t want to overlook their achievements — we will be focusing more on our honorees’ recent influence and impact. Since this is an annual feature, we want to avoid profiling the same influencers year after year.  

Our inaugural list included many obvious choices, but the IB editorial staff felt it was also important to identify people in the community who are perhaps flying a bit under the radar yet are just as influential as some of our more well-known selections. And I think we accomplished that last year with our diverse list of honorees. In short, we are looking for people who have had recent impact on the way we live, work, play, and give back to this great community.

The IB editorial staff will make the final selections again this year. However, it is impossible for us to know about every worthy candidate, so we very much welcome your nominations. In your email, please include all the reasons why he or she should make this year’s list.
