Village Board approves developer’s agreement for massive Cottage Grove Amazon facility
After over a year of waiting, plans for a massive Amazon facility in Cottage Grove took a step forward recently with the Village Board’s approval of a long-negotiated developer’s agreement, according to The Herald Independent and McFarland Thistle.
Under the agreement, unanimously approved by the board but not yet signed by Amazon, Amazon would guarantee the project’s addition of at least $245 million in property value in the village of Cottage Grove. The village in return would provide as much as $48 million in tax refunds throughout the construction process.
Amazon and its development partner, Trammell Crow Co., would aim to finish construction by Jan. 1, 2026. Amazon would also commit to making on-site and off-site improvements to public amenities including roads, sidewalks, and sewers.
The project, on a 145-acre site located at the intersection of County Highways N and TT north of Interstate 94, is expected to bring 1,000–1,500 full-time jobs to the area. The building would be more than 3 million square feet in size.
The final step before the project breaks ground will be for Amazon and Trammell Crow to pursue building permits from the village.
