Verona preservation group wants city to reconsider developing farmland near Epic campus

A group of town of Verona residents are asking Verona city leaders to reconsider a proposal that would develop more than 140 acres of farmland where the city and town share a border near County Highway PD, according to a report from Channel3000.

The Verona Rural Preservation Alliance has been critical of the Ardent Glen development, which would bring roughly 400 single-family and twin homes to a stretch of farmland that was annexed by the city of Verona in 2018.

Alliance members worry about what the project could mean for traffic, heat and cooling, and water supply in the area, but Verona Mayor Luke Diaz says because the project isn’t aimed at apartments or condominiums, he’s not concerned about density issues.
