Verizon completes major redesign of Madison network  

In a press release today, Verizon announced the completion of a major, multiyear redesign of its network in Madison, with new cell sites to expand coverage and more fiber to add capacity.  

Network upgrades include the following:  

• Verizon customers in Madison now have a median download speed increasing 94% and median upload speeds increasing by 35% since last year.  
• Verizon’s 5G Ultra Wideband service is now available throughout in Madison, including southwest of Sun Prairie near the intersection of US 151 and South Grand Avenue, enhancing coverage of the surrounding commercial area for dining, shopping, and entertainment. 
• Verizon increased the capacity on the fiber connections in the Madison area so they can carry 10 times the amount of data.
