UWDC mobilizes 800 for Seasons of Caring
During its Seasons of Caring: Community Kickoff event at the Mallards Duck Pond, United Way of Dane County mobilized more than 800 volunteers to serve as Champions4Change. This event marks the official start of the organization’s 2019 community fundraising campaign.
Volunteers gathered to do everything from assembling snack packs and pediatric dental kits to labeling cans for local food pantries — impacting the lives of thousands of local families over the course of just one afternoon. In just one hour alone, volunteers made a $50,000 impact on the community, providing 23,000 meals and 5,000 packages of needed items for local families.
Dave Orr, president emeritus of Hooper Corp., serves as the United Way’s 2019 Campaign Chair. Hooper Corp. was one of several local companies supporting the Aug. 20 kick-off event, hosted by the Madison Mallards, and Hooper was joined by BMO Harris Bank, UW Credit Union, CUNA Mutual Group, WPS Health Solutions, First Business, Fiskars, Forward Madison, JP Cullen, and Vogel Bros. Building Co.
Last year, the fundraising campaign generated more than $18 million to provide community support. For more information about investing in the community, visit unitedwaydanecounty.org or follow the UWDC on social media @unitedwaydaneco and #Champions4Change.
