UW slips in research ranking
The latest annual ranking of research institutions from the National Science Foundation finds UW–Madison falling out of the top five, where it has held a solid presence since 1973.
The latest available data shows UW’s spending at $1.07 billion in 2015, with 2016 numbers still being compiled.
By comparison, UW spent $1.17 billion in 2012, and has undergone a string of state budget cuts ever since.
