UW–Madison reveals state-of-the-art Babcock renovation

After a $73 million renovation, UW–Madison is unveiling its new and improved dairy plant, complete with a three-story addition to its Center for Dairy Research, according to an article today from NBC-15. The space, which has not been remodeled since its construction in 1951, boasts state-of-the-art equipment, such as a -25-degree freezer to house thousands of gallons of its famous Babcock ice cream, and fully updated facilities, including the dairy center’s first cheese-ripening caves.

The improvements will elevate the plant not only in terms of production but also education, giving students access to innovative technologies and facilities consistent with the highest industry standards. The public is invited to an open house for the plant on April 14.
