UW–Madison researches AI for mental health support
UW–Madison researchers are currently exploring AI usage for mental health support with the help of $3 million in federal grant money, WisBusiness reports. The two-year project’s funding comes from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency.
The system currently being developed by scientists working in UW–Madison’s Center for Healthy Minds would deliver personalized mental health support via mobile devices.
Researchers will conduct “experience sampling” in the project’s initial phase, wherein human participants will use an app that gauges their emotional state through prompts and looks at their geolocation and other activity data.
Following a control trial, researchers hope to launch a platform that is accessible through web, mobile, and wearable technology.
