UW Health joins statewide partnership

UW Health has joined five other health care organizations from around the state in a partnership agreement developed to “build upon and advance … clinical quality, efficiency and customer experience attributes,” according to a release. In addition to UW Health, the partnership includes Aspirus, Wausau; Aurora Health Care, Milwaukee; Bellin Health, Green Bay; Gundersen Health System, La Crosse; and ThedaCare, Appleton. ThedaCare’s Greg Devine will serve as president and CEO of the partnership.

Together, their service areas provide health care access to about 90% of Wisconsin’s population and also serve people in bordering states.

“Our promise to our patients and the communities we serve is to deliver high-quality, lower-cost health, and to improve the health of the populations we serve,” said the partnership’s board chair and Gundersen Health System CEO Jeff Thompson in the release. “This is a true partnership among our six organizations, not a merger or consolidation. It will allow us to more rapidly learn from each other, share best practices, and serve the needs of patients and families more efficiently.”

The organizations expect the network to serve as a new model for the nation.
