Unemployment up in most Wisconsin counties
The state Department of Workforce Development reported that the unemployment rate rose in 20 of Wisconsin’s 32 largest cities in February and 61 of 72 counties. Racine had the highest rate in February, at 13.4%, while Caledonia posted the lowest, at 4%. Madison came in with the second lowest rate (5.3%), which was unchanged from January. Menominee County had the worst county unemployment rate, at 15%, while Dane County was lowest, at 5.6%, a slight uptick from January’s 5.5%.
