Unemployment remains steady, telecommuting decreases slightly

According to April 2022 data recently released by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the national unemployment rate remained at 3.6%, and the number of unemployed persons was essentially unchanged at 5.9 million compared to the four weeks prior. Additionally, there is little change in these figures when compared to February 2020, before the COVID-19 pandemic, when the numbers were 3.5% and 5.7 million. Among the unemployed, the number of permanent job loses remained at 1.4 million in April, and the number of persons on temporary layoff was little changed at 853,000.
