Two-story Target opens on State Street

A small-format, two-level Target store has opened at 610 State St., according to a Wisconsin State Journal report. The store is located between City Bar and Urban Outfitters and is the first of this format for Wisconsin. The clientele for the 15,000-square-foot store is primarily students from nearby housing. The store is expected to keep more shopping dollars downtown because those customers will be making fewer trips to Target stores at Hilldale and on Junction and Lien roads. The new State Street store also features a grocery department and will likely compete with Fresh Madison Market and Capitol Centre Market, both located just a few blocks away.
