Two funding resolutions proposed for Dane County Jail Consolidation Project

The Dane County Board of Supervisors will consider two resolutions proposed to fund the Dane County Jail Consolidation Project, NBC-15 reports.

The project, which aims to replace or update the jail’s facilities to achieve a modern, rehabilitation-focused environment, is expected to cost $179 million in total. The goal of both proposed resolutions is to use capital funding from leftover projects to cover the $13.5 million cost that remains.

The first option would pay off the note in 10 years, while the second option would take double that time. When the board meets next week to consider both resolutions, the first would need a 2/3 vote to pass, while the second would need 3/4. Once approved, the project could go out for bid this summer.
