Twin towers proposed near Kohl Center
Chicago-based CA Ventures is proposing a 10-story housing tower facing the Kohl Center at 114 N. Bedford St. in Madison. The building would include furnished apartments and would be targeted to students. A separate eight-story building targeted toward young professionals would face West Mifflin Street. Four townhomes facing North Bedford Street are also part of the proposal. A three-story parking structure would offer above- and below-ground parking, with room for 140 vehicles, 15 to 20 mopeds, and about 240 bikes.
A one-story building currently on the site would be demolished, and the Landmarks Commission will be involved in the decision-making process because the site is next to the Madison School District’s Central Administration building, which is considered a landmark. CA Ventures is working with a Boston architectural firm and expects to make a presentation to the Urban Design Commission on Nov 19.
