Truck sales up, car sales down in February

Reg-Trak of Waterloo reported that Dane County saw an increase in new car and truck sales in February of 4.5%, with 1,325 vehicles sold compared to 1,268 vehicles sold a year ago. The year-to-year gain was entirely due to truck sales, which increased 13.54% compared to February 2013, and more than compensated for lackluster car sales, which saw a 7% decline for the month.

The nine-county south-central region (which includes Dane County) didn’t fare as well on the whole, with 2,505 vehicles sold compared to 2,593 last year, for a decline of 3.39%. Both cars and truck sales were down year-over-year.
