Tax revenue grows state budget by billions

The Wisconsin state budget balance is expected to grow by $4.4 billion, an unexpected boost by tax revenues this year, according to a report from Wisconsin Public Radio. The nonpartisan budget office of the Legislature projected tax revenues would grow Wisconsin’s general fund with a balance of $2.6 billion at the end of the current budget cycle on June 30, up from the $1.9 billion predicted in January. Current projections would leave the next two-year budget with an ending balance of nearly $5.9 billion.
