Tariffs could increase prices by 25%, say Madison bike sellers

The latest round of Trump administration tariffs went into effect Monday and the $200 billion tariffs on Chinese goods includes bicycles, which stands to affect Wisconsin bike companies like Trek, Pacific Cycle, Saris Cycling Group, and Planet Bike, according to a report from The Capital Times. The tariffs on bikes, as well as parts and accessories, impose a 10% tax, which will rise to 25% by the end of the year.

A Trek spokesperson notes if the tariff increases are finalized, the company and others like it “will have few options but to pass these costs through the supply chain to our customers.”
