Study: High-net-worth individuals in a giving mood
A BMO Private Bank study found that 90% of Wisconsin’s high-net-worth individuals plan to donate to charitable causes this year, donating, on average, $11,830. The national average is $8,845. High-net-worth individuals are those with investable assets of $1 million or more.
In their wills, the state’s wealthiest are also earmarking an average of 6% of their estates to charities, according to the study, and their favorites are community programs, religious institutions, and health care. More than half of those surveyed (55%) say they are donating more than they were five years ago when the recession started, with 18% donating less.
