Stoughton mulling whitewater park
The city of Stoughton is considering a $1.87 million transformation of the Yahara River waterway into a whitewater rapid park that could bring an economic boost to the local community.
According to an article in the Wisconsin State Journal, the city is considering redesigning the Yahara River waterfront into a whitewater park that would include seven “drop-pools” for kayaks and canoes, as well as create improvements to surrounding shorelines and beaches.
If the project gets all of the approvals necessary, including from the Department of Natural Resources, it could be under construction in 2020.
