Statewide homes sales surge

Low inventory statewide pushed sales of existing homes 7.2% higher in March and 3.2% higher for the quarter compared to a year ago, according to the Wisconsin REALTORS Association.

Statewide, median prices have increased to $163,000 over the past 12 months. March sales were up in all six statewide regions, with the most robust sales in the North (+28.1%), Central (+14.5%), and Northeast (+10.1%).

In Dane County, WRA reports fewer sales compared to March 2016 (628 down to 578), but the median sales price jumped from $229,475 to $258,000.

Grant County saw a 40.2% increase in median price March to March, from $82,000 last year to $115,000.
