State Street Steep & Brew closing

After 33 years, the Steep & Brew coffee shop on State Street is shutting down, although the brand itself won’t be going anywhere.

The building at 544 State St. is being sold to a developer.

The Wisconsin State Journal reports employees at the coffee shop were notified last week. A manager will be retained, while the other 10 employees will receive a two-week severance after the shop closes on Sept. 28.

The company employs close to 65 people, with many working out of the company’s roasting facility and corporate headquarters at 855 E. Broadway in Monona, which will remain operation.
