State Street businesses pressure city for help

A letter entitled “Save State Street” written to city officials from State Street business owners has asked for 19 specific changes to assist businesses in the area.

The suggested measures include improving safety, attracting new businesses, and temporarily converting the street into a pedestrian mall, according to a report from the Wisconsin State Journal.

The letter encourages the city to fund programs to increase the number of minority-owned businesses, add more security cameras, remove rocks from planters, and to replace the glass at the now boarded up visitor center.
