State home sales could break records

The Wisconsin REALTORS Association reports the state’s year-to-date home sales are shaping up to set a record.

Statewide, September sales were up 6.9% year over year with median prices up 7.9% to $167,450. In Dane County, the median sale price remained the same as September 2015 at $240,000, but September sales increased 13.1% compared to last year.

Year to date through September, Dane County’s median sale price has risen from $230,00 to $243,900 for an increase of 6%, while the number of homes sold since January increased 1%, from 6,599 for the first nine months of 2015 to 6,668 sales this year.
