State gets noticed for life science grants
The State Science & Technology Institute has published its latest data and Wisconsin ranks third in the nation for securing Small Business Innovation Research and Small Business Technology Transfer funding from the National Institutes of Health. Only Oregon and Vermont did better.
From 2008–2017, with the help of the Center for Technology Commercialization (CTC) and other firms, Wisconsin’s 23 percent win rate for competitive, early-stage health and life science business grant applications resulted in $87 million invested in the state’s entrepreneurial efforts, according to a CTC release.
From 2014–2017, applicants working through the CTC performed even better, with a state win-rate of 42 percent, resulting in $31.4 million in awards.
