The state of Wisconsin exported a total value of $21 billion in Wisconsin goods in 2016, according to the latest report from the Wisconsin Economic Development Corp. (WEDC).

Industrial machinery led the list, accounting for 25% of total exports valued at $5.2 billion. Filling out the top five categories by percentage of the total were medical and scientific instruments (11%), electrical machinery (9.4%), non-rail vehicles and parts (7.5%), and plastic products (4.9%).

The data, from the U.S. Census Bureau as reported by Global Trade Information Services, also showed that the only export categories experiencing growth were aircraft, spacecraft, and parts (49.08% growth), miscellaneous chemical products (8.03%), and other products (9.13%).

While industrial machinery encompassed the largest percentage of exports, it also experienced the largest decline (-11.06%) in terms of growth.
