State approves $1.5 billion in building projects, excludes new UW engineering building

In a Joint Finance Committee vote this week, $1.5 billion for state building projects over the next two years was approved on an 11–4 vote, according to a Wisconsin State Journal report. Nearly $629 million is earmarked for the University of Wisconsin System, down from the $1 billion requested by Gov. Tony Evers. The committee declined to fund a new engineering building for the University of Wisconsin–Madison. The plan heads to the Assembly and Senate and a vote is expected later this month.
