St. Vincent de Paul opens low-cost pharmacy

St. Vincent de Paul has opened a pharmacy on Fish Hatchery Road that will cater to people who cannot afford prescriptions. The pharmacy will stock only low-cost drugs for common conditions, such as diabetes, high blood pressure, arthritis, or infections, and it will not provide narcotics.

The pharmacy was set up through a lead gift from the Oscar Rennebohm Foundation and will cost $150,000 a year to operate. It will be staffed by volunteer pharmacists and UW pharmacy students.
