Some Babcock ice cream didn’t make the renovation cut

The world is going to be a little less flavorful while UW–Madison’s Babcock Hall is renovated. According to an article in the Wisconsin State Journal, ice cream devotees will have to go without flavors such as chocolate turtle or mocha macchiato because they and others didn’t make the final menu.

While Babcock’s most popular flavors still will be offered, fans of the jettisoned flavors will have to wait about two years for them to return. That’s how long it will take to complete the renovation, which is the first significant upgrade since the Babcock dairy plant was built.

For the past 68 years, Babcock ice cream has been made by the university’s Department of Food Science, but until renovation work is completed, the icy treats will be made by The Chocolate Shoppe.
