Soglin weighing impact of budget, may use veto

Mayor Paul Soglin is at odds with the City Council over budgets the council approved for 2015, including an operating budget of $283.1 million and a capital budget of $264.7 million. It isn’t so much the average $61 per household increase next year that’s concerning the mayor, it’s the future impact the budget could have years from now. Soglin reportedly wants to be sure the 2015 budget doesn’t negatively affect basic services in the near future.

As of Nov. 13, he had five days to either sign the budget, let it move through without his signature, or veto it.
