Small businesses support government role for Main Street businesses

A new report from Business Education Fund, in partnership with the Main Street Alliance, reveals that 67% of small business owners support government protections for their business. The Role of Government: A Small Business Perspective report also found that having a community-based outreach effort to reach local business owners, particularly those not connected to government programs, is an important factor for helping small businesses through the COVID-19 pandemic crisis. The report called out the need for government to address the growing inequality of a “lopsided tax system” and notes that small business owners want effective, equitable, and active government support for a thriving small business sector.
