SHINE leaving Monona, relocating south

Monona will be losing an employer when SHINE Medical Technologies moves its headquarters to downtown Janesville later this year in anticipation of the company’s medical radioisotope production facility breaking ground nearby.

SHINE will produce molybdenum-99, a radioisotope that breaks down into technetium-99m which is used in more than 40 million medical imaging procedures each year, according to a release.

SHINE expects to grow to 60-plus employees in 2017 and employ 150 people at the future production facility.
