Sheboygan Press: South Pier casino project stalls
A proposal to build an off-reservation tribal casino in Sheboygan’s South Pier district has stalled after negotiations between the project’s developer and a northern Wisconsin Indian tribe failed to produce a development deal.
City officials said Tuesday that the project is no longer moving forward, though a project spokesman stopped short of saying the proposal is dead.
“We’d certainly like to keep gaming as a long-term option,” said Josh Morby, the casino project’s spokesman. “But the reality of it is that the process is not happening as quickly as many people expected it to happen.”
