Shannon joins Wisconsin Angel Network advisory committee
Thomas M. Shannon, one of Wisconsin’s most active angel investors, will join the Wisconsin Angel Network’s advisory committee.
Shannon’s appointment highlights the growing involvement of “super angels” in Wisconsin, also known as high-net-worth individuals investing here at a rapidly growing rate. Super angels invest their own money in start-up companies at a pace and dollar amount that exceeds traditional angel investing.
Shannon is a lead investor and serves as board chairman of Aver Informatics of Green Bay, Wisconsin Shamrock Energy Corp. of Oshkosh, Somna Therapeutics LLC of Milwaukee, and Proxim Diagnostics of Sunnyvale, Calif. Earlier this month, Somna Therapeutics was selected as a finalist in the Governor’s Business Plan Contest.
Shannon has held a variety of senior level management positions in sales and general management. Most recently, he was chief executive officer with Prodesse’s, having exited after its sale to Gen-Probe in November 2009.
In addition to Shannon, other members of WAN’s advisory board are: Tim Keane, Golden Angels and Keane D’Souza Venture Capital; Dick Leinenkugel, former Commerce Secretary and Northwood Angels; Dick Leazer, Wisconsin Investment Partners; David Ward, NorthStar Economics and Angels on the Water; Lisa Johnson, WEDC; Tom Still, Wisconsin Technology Council; Todd Leonard, Minnesota Angel Network (ex-officio).
