Sex shop in residential area draws neighborhood attention

A former Family Video location on the southwest side of Madison is being remodeled for a national adult retail shop, according to a Wisconsin State Journal report. The opening of Romantix, at 3154 Maple Grove Drive, is following established zoning ordinances, but Madison Ald. Nasra Wehelie has been fielding concerns from neighbors about the development. Wehelie says the shop is not suitable for the area because young children walk and ride their bikes in the area. A meeting held on Monday, Aug. 1 allowed residents to express their concerns to the business owner and hear from city zoning staff who provided information about the city’s process.
